We've talked about this before and I think that if we ever did want everyone to move to a new site, now would be the time.

No offense to Rick or Dzone, but rick is never around and the site is clunky and has a lot of stuff beyond our control. Plus, if it ever died, we'd be fucked.

I've got almost zero experience with running/setting up a site with a forum, so what would be involved? We'd need a domain and forum software (I think) so what would that cost?

And if you guys just want to keep plugging along here, that's cool too.

well with d3 coming wouldn't rick be around more for that.... and if not and we still used this site wouldn't it make sense in making reliable people admins...but if the sit were to move dzoneftw

I'd say for the most part, every single person who currently traffics this forum was part of the "underground" hardcore scene. Most likely, this will happen happen again (i hope anyway) and we'll bring more players to the site. I know most of you guys don't know me since I'm just a lurker, but I've been around on hcc since 1.03. I never got to run the ladder with Sully, Krusher, Behrens, or any of the CoWa peeps, though I view you guys as legends of the game. I played with Orbby, Dumb_Mother, Dacy and Camel on classic. My acct back in the day was SoL-Morpheus (Slayer of Legions yeah! Anyone remember Noreal?) heh. Was in NiX on D2X.

But anyway... I think new site would be a great idea imo, and fortunately there's plenty of time to come up with ideas etc. I don't imagine any of you are familiar with WoW guilds but, "Elitist Jerks" are one of the top 25 best in the world. But what's interesting is since WoW day 1 their website has served as one of the main sources of mature and regulated forums involving game mechanics talk and the like. Blizzard employees actually engage in threads on their site.

Personally, I envision dzone being the Diablo 3 version of that, with some regulation of course (like banning the SZ asshats) lol j/p.

Dunno, just my 2 cents.

D3 FtW. I'd love to see this site continued and be - the - place for hardcore characters.

P.S. Is there going to be an actual D3 Dzone clan?

we can make an online forum with many software, phpbb is a common one.

I never ran one, but I can surely set it up easily. I'd be down to pay half of the hosting if someone else wants to chip in (looking at you Sully)

i dunno.. up to you but i wouldn't mind the site staying the same..

as a hypothetical..lets say we get a new web page going....we all chip in, the active users, we could put more into it by spreading the wealth, were msotly all adults now with jobs and money isnt too big of an ordeal if ya know what i mean. But i would say try to collaborate with rick if its at all possible and if he doesnt want any part of this anymore, try to take all the cool forum shit from here and save it all if possible, cuz there are too many old skool memories here. xfer to a new site or i duno, but saving this shit would be epic. When my wow guild changed ownership, our previous webmaster was able to transfer all the stuff from his website to our new one and so on. but anyways. the EJ forums is something that would be spectacular thing im sure we could accomplish with ease, with the knowledge we have of this game and our accomplishments we have what it takes imo.

I should set us up with yetanotherforum and a news page. It's free and opensource

but diablozone is already pagerank 3 so it wouldn't make sense unless this all got taken down and redirected there. Plus i feel like itd be impossible to get enough people to move

I like the idea of doing something like elitestjerks. We could be like the Hardcore authority for D3. There are actually a number of sites that are the authority for certain things in wow. arenajunkies.com is where you go for all things arena and PvP, blizzard actually trades feedback with those guys. warcraftmovies.com is the authority for WoW videos. then of course elitestjerks.com is the site you go to for learning about mechanics of all things PvE.

Obviously our niche would be hardcore, we have the players, we have the history, we have the community. All we would need is a guild and a website. D3FTW or dzoneftw gets my vote and then we roll FTW in d3 (though some of us may masquerade as PK- on the underground ^_^). Once we establish our guild on D3, the site will start to get traffic.

when i get my main computer back running i can do more research on website shit.

i'm game for moving or whatever and if some cash is needed i'll cover anything within some sense of reasonability.
